Human Rights Violations - October-November, 2025

Despite severe physical, custodial, and financial repression used against them over the past year, citizens gather daily in the capital and other cities, demanding the restoration of Georgia’s European course, the holding of new fair elections, and the release of political prisoners.

Not a single documented crime committed against peaceful protesters, journalists, activists, or political figures has been investigated, and no perpetrators have been held accountable.

Prior to October 4, 2025, 53 individuals involved in the protests were imprisoned. Following the rally on October 4, criminal prosecution was initiated against an additional 73 individuals, of whom 61 were sentenced to imprisonment, 10 were released on bail, and 2 persons are wanted by the police.

Currently, the heads of almost every opposition party that participated in the parliamentary elections are under criminal investigation. In total, 11 opposition politicians and leaders are imprisoned, 2 opposition leaders have been released on bail, and one leader is wanted and has been sentenced to imprisonment in absentia.
