Human Rights Violations, July-September, 2025

For ten consecutive months, since 28 October 2024, protests have been held daily across Georgia in response to the "Georgian Dream” government’s announced deviation from the European course. Despite harsh financial penalties, imprisonment and repression, citizens continue to gather in Tbilisi and other cities demanding the restoration of Georgia’s European path, the holding of new fair elections, and the release of political prisoners.

To date, no one has been held accountable for documented crimes committed against peaceful protesters, journalists, activists, and politicians, including assaults, serious physical injuries, inhuman treatment, and torture. Hundreds of demonstrators were subjected to physical violence and systematic torture through force and/or the use of unknown chemical irritants, causing long-term health consequences. Despite clear evidence, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has publicly downplayed the violence, claiming there were only "two or three cases” of police misconduct.
