Human Rights Situation in Georgia. 12th Periodic Review

This report, prepared by European Orbit of Georgia, provides an overview of the human rights situation in Georgia in July and August 2026. It highlights growing pressure on protesters, activists, opposition figures, and independent media. The report covers arrests over social media posts and protest-related actions, cases of physical and alleged police violence, and poor conditions in prisons. It also examines politically motivated prosecutions, including the so-called "sabotage case” against opposition leaders, as well as the imprisonment of former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili. The report also raises concerns about increasing restrictions on critical media and freedom of expression.
